Once Ray was given a Brownie Instamatic camera, at an age that must have been under 10, he began shooting away … capturing the world around him with the wonder of a child's eye. And as the past is prologue, he continued to be in wonder as he realized his dream of journeying to all the planet's continents. His child's eye continues to see the world through many lenses.
Quirky angles, honing in on the details of a curve, shadow or the play of light against a sun-bleached boulder … looking for "the shot less captured", he stops for the moments most might miss. Inspired by Stieglitz, O'Keefe, Ansel Adams and, lately, Vivian Maier, Ray has amassed a lifetime of images and this website is just a glimpse of the world as seen through his lens.
Bradford is also a longtime civil rights advocate for diversity and workplace equity in the entertainment and news industries on behalf of all adversely affected communities; but most especially LGBTIQ+ and people with disabilities. For thirteen years, he helped create and served as National Director for Equal Employment Opportunities at AFTRA (American Federation of Television and Radio Artists); following that as Director for Entertainment Media at GLAAD.
I invite you to see the images in my collection as I saw them at that particular moment. Many of my framed enlarged B&W prints pull me in most every time I walk past them on the wall. If you have questions on particular pictures, please reach out to me. Personally signed prints are available on an individual basis; just contact me for more info. And, one final note: as I rotate featured folios in and out of my online collection, visit occasionally for new additions.
